Abstract

The emotional, social and physical development of children has a direct impact on the overall development of the country. Understanding the status of children is thus of immense importance. In the Indian context, this assumes special significance as children (0-14 years) comprise around one third of the total population of the country. So, Children are assets of any nation and wealth of future. Childhood is important because their personality is framed in the socialization process. They should be given appropriate care for survival and healthy development. . The governments and NGOs are taking so many programs to create awareness for eradicating child labour. But it failed to attain cent percent result.
