Abstract

Impulsive and compulsive buying behaviors are frequently confused for each other. Impulse buying behavior consists of planned and emergency purchases. It is more common and almost everyone engages in this behavior in time to time. Impulse buying is often associated with strong affective reactions such as a strong purchase motivation or a feeling of happiness and excitement. But when it comes to the compulsive buying behavior it is known as shopping addiction. Forced purchasing is a low, but growing, dysfunctional consumer behavior that can lead to stress but can have a serious impact on a person's life, such as significant debt. It is a psychological disorder where one experience an uncontrollable urge to buy. The purpose of this study is to provide a psychological overview of consumer impulsive and compulsive buying behaviors in marketplaces. The data for this research was collected from the previous studies as a secondary data.
